Okay, why have we written this book? Well here's a bit of an explanation.

In our view hi-fi is more than a hobby - it's a passion, underpinned by a love of music, and probably considerable technical interest too. There is definitely something fascinating about a system of sensors, transducers and complex electronics that turns a tiny recording into a grand musical event. And customers who want to get to that level really have a lot to gain by having a good technical understanding - in our view it helps greatly in unlocking the true potential of your hi-fi system.

Over the years that we've been developing the Vertex range, we have discovered that there are no quick answers - setting up a good hi-fi is a complex matter (and anyone who tells you otherwise is misleading you). We have written this 'book' (brochure or manual just doesn't seem right) not only to give you technical product information, but also to explain a lot of the crippling effects that hold back performance, how these effects are interacting throughout your system and its environment, and how we target these problems with the Vertex equipment. Hopefully it will help you make sense of some critical elements of hi-fi performance that used to baffle us all.
